Absolutely not! That is simply a misguided myth! You can take your vehicle to any repair facility for regular scheduled, and preventive maintenance.
Just make sure that your repair facility uses approved procedures and products. It’s always advised that you save copies of all maintenance records, as well.
At Gold Wing Motors, our standard practice is to always follow the manufacturers specifications for maintaining your vehicle.
Make sure that you follow the recommended service intervals for your vehicle that are specified in your vehicles owner’s manual.
Make sure that you keep all books and records related to the maintenance and/or repairs that have been done on your vehicle. This includes the date, parts installed, vehicle identification number, and the mileage that was recorded on the invoice. Keep your receipts in a safe place.
Yes. Even though you leased your vehicle instead of buying it, you are still responsible for all of the maintenance and repairs that are required to keep the vehicle in good working order, as outlined in the owner’s manual.
Each vehicle has a different maintenance schedule. It is always best to consult the owners manual that came with your vehicle to make sure that you maintain the vehicle correctly. It has all of the information that you will need to make sure that you care for the vehicle properly.
Remember that warranties are there to protect you against major defects that can be costly to repair. However, you must follow the requirements.
For non-warranty work, regardless of the vehicles age, you have the right to take the vehicle to any licensed repair facility that you choose to. You should read over your warranty to understand what is covered and what is not.
Something that many people don’t know is that the same manufacturers that make the manufacturer branded parts for your vehicle, also make the aftermarket brands, as well. So as such, in most cases, yes, the quality is the same because the part itself is the same.
For the parts that in fact are manufactured elsewhere, in today’s age of computer-controlled machinery, it is safe to trust most of the parts manufacturers for good quality.
At Gold Wing Motors, we only use the exact parts that were made specifically for your vehicle. Rest assured that we will make sure that the job is done right.
The timing belt is a part of your engine that controls the timing of your engine’s intake & exhaust valves. Your timing belt needs to be checked every 25,000 miles, and should be changed every 50,000-70,000 miles. That said, every manufacturer is different. You should consult your owner’s manual to determine the correct replacement interval.
On average, you will use your brakes about 75,000 times per year. Today’s brake systems are hydraulic and use brake fluid which is hydrophilic, which means that it can absorb moisture from the air.
Once the hydraulic system has moisture in it, corrosion starts to take place and brake components can start to fail. Brake fluid should be flushed periodically in order to keep corrosion under control.
This procedure is not expensive and is included in many preventative maintenance schedules. Brake fluid should be handled with care. It will melt plastics and remove paint.
